As an LGBT Talk Columnist, you bring the flavour of the community to Kink-e-Zine readers on a monthly basis. This position requires great writing skills with special attention to grammar and minimal error, the ability to make deadlines and maintain contact with other Staff members, and in some instances, the ability to conduct live interviews and transfer verbal information to text information effectively without losing character. It’d be beneficial to have LGBT Talk Columnists actively involved in the LGBT BDSM/Kink/Leather/Fetish communities.

Position reports to the LGBT Talk Editor and Chief Editor

Style Columnist

“Style” covers all that is style in the BDSM/Kink/Leather/Fetish communities. Goth/Kink dance clubs and parties, TNG events and workshops, clothing/fashion, music--basically you are the “IN person” of Kink-e-Zine; the one who knows what’s hot & what’s not in the San Francisco Bay Area scene and gives the reviews! Advertising / Marketing Consultant

The Advertising / Marketing Consultant is by far one of the most important positions of Kink-e-Zine, for it is this position that promotes the publication and generates interest in paid advertising from businesses, organizations and event coordinators. The ideal person has an unlimited territory to work with to produce positive results, and has no qualms about closing deals and oppourtunities for the betterment of Kink-e-Zine. Effective communication skills, a background in Advertising / Marketing / Sales / Public Relations is preferred, as well as excellent record-keeping skills, and the ability to make deadlines and maintain contact with other Staff members as needed. At the present time, this will be the only paid Kink-e-Zine Staff position, with compensation paid on a commission basis from advertising sales.

Position reports to the Publisher

Pink's Requirement for Pictures and Words

I am just a bit curious. My partner and I chose not to go to Pink Saturday night because of the requirement that we submit, in advance, pictures and a few words about ourselves. This just reminded us a bit too much of the requirement of Club Kiss that those who come submit "recent photos of both of you and make sure that your faces are visible."

We have always felt that there was a bit of a "velvet rope" surrounding Club Kiss that made it somewhat unappetizing.We have been encouraged by what we saw as the open and accepting attitude of Kinky Salon and we have felt very welcome there. So, we were somewhat surprised at the photo requirement for Saturday's Pink and wanted to ask why it was deemed necessary to add such a requirement.

Ah yes, the traditional post-party "I was fooling around in the back room and I lost my ..." post. Only this time, wasn't wasn't inhibitions or dignity. My husband lost his fancy polarized sunglasses that he wears to help keep him from getting migraines. They don't look super special, just like basic wraparound shades, but they're kinda medically important (hence why he had them on him even at night.) There's always the chance he lsot them elsewhere that night, but he thinks he remembers having them right up until we went in the back room to fool around. So that's probably where they'd be found. Let me know--they were super expensive and worth it if they help keep his head from exploding!

Join Master Erik for a special 4-hour workshop, where He will cover the basics to getting started on making your own floggers, crops, canes, and cat o'nine tails. You'll also learn about shopping for inexpensive materials, leather braiding, and knots commonly used in toy making.

Hey all!
Well, Cat and I wanted to send out this LONG note to update everyone about what we're doing and where we are in life. It's important and very well may be the last thing you hear from us for a very long time.

Most of you know, we've been living in Mission control by the friendship of Polly and Scott. While there, we've been putting together an internet company and the first product of the technology is basically ready for launch at South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin next month. The product is Songnumbers and you can try it out at 515-862-1000; you can listen to and buy music by calling a single phone number...pretty cool :) we think...nobody else can do this, it's the 1st time, blah blah blah, change the music industry for the internet, etc. It's what we showed off at Macworld.

3 weeks ago, our partner in TX got behind doing a huge booth at SXSW and we started planning for Peep Show Mini Golf to be the booth theme...hell, Gooferman even volunteered to work with us. In short, we had most everything in place for a killer launch of Songnumbers with shit NOBODY at SXSW had ever seen for technology and damn sure we'd be dropping their jaws with PSMG and a carnival on the trade show floor. Ultimately, the "old-dudes" who were financing the SXSW booth just couldn't get their heads around "our" (the Community) brand of fun....sucks for them. We fucking fought and fought on 4 phone calls (for 2 total hours) and I had them on the fence a few times...but a standard both is "safe"

We packed up our room at Mission Control, stored away some other belongings (thanks Joanne) and put everything else in the car that we bought last week for the trip. Today, wednesday, we're leaving for Austin with JUST ENOUGH money to get there and live for about a week, until more funds are available. So, it's pretty damn scary. It's awfully close to how we arrived in San Francisco: a car with stuff in it and a week worth of security..so our nerves are frazzled and flashbacks are overwhleming us every few minutes. However, this time IS different, here's how and why and the reason for this note:

WE ARE LEAVING BEHIND, IF ONLY TEMPORARILY, A GROUP OF FRIENDS. We didn't have this before, EVER. We are driving away from people that might actually want us to come back :) We're breaking off, for a bit, from a group of people who took us in when we had nothing and who loved us anyway...people we care about, people that keep us in their lives for no other reason than friendship without strings or drama or conditions. Look ya'll, we love you and the only thing keeping me and Cat sane right now is our HOME back in San Francisco and that HOME is all of you.

Slightly OT - Save the Cow Palace!

Hey folks,

As some of you may have heard already, South Bay State Senator Leland Yee has proposed a bill that would hand the state-owned Cow Palace to the town of Daly City, who would then sell it to private developers who will tear it down and put up some strip mall and condos.

The Cow Palace is home to many events that I know are faves of the KS community, most prominently the Exotic Erotic Ball and the Dickens Christmas Fair. If the Cow Palace is gone, most of the events that happen there will simply stop - there just aren't many comparable venues left in the Bay Area, especially because the Cow Palace, being a publicly owned property, is a LOT cheaper to rent than other places of similar size.

Please please take the time to write a letter, call, or email your state reps and let them know you oppose this bill, SB1527.

Polly and I had more fun last night than we've had in a very long time at Kinky Salon......thanks, kids!

Well- it's official. The new system rocks. What a great event!! A perfect combination of extremely well dressed, fabulous, well behaved (and badly behaved in the right way) folks!
Annie Sprinkle was amazing. What a treat!!!!! She said it was, and I quote "The best erotic party I have ever been to". That's coming from a woman who has been going to sex parties for 30 years! Quite the compliment. And your costumes were all so good she says it was giving her total flashbacks to the 70s!

Special thank you to all the volunteers who busted out holding the whole thing together. We didn't expect there to be such a full house, so we were a little understaffed. Thanks to those of you who went the extra mile on such a wild night!

The domino- like collapse of coatcheck was a ridiculous fiasco, but in the end we managed to match every single coat and bag with their owner! Thanks for being patient.

I can't wait for the next one!

If you are single and want to come to Kinky Salon it’s easy. Just bring a friend (we call them your PAL). For details of how this works read on…

The PAL system (Pervy Activity Liason)

Whether you are male or female, if you want to come to Kinky Salon without a date these rules apply:

• When you come to Kinky Salon you must bring a PAL with you
• Your PAL can be the same gender, the opposite gender or even a couple
• You are responsible for your PALs behavior and they are responsible for yours!
• If either of you violate the charter you will both be held responsible
• You must arrive together and we recommend leaving together
• If you volunteer at the event, you do not need a PAL

F.A.S.Q. (Frequently Asked Stupid Questions)

I am a single guy. Can my PAL be another single guy?
YES! As long as you agree to keep an eye on each other, your PAL can be either gender.

We are a couple and we have a single friend- can we bring them with us?
YES! Please do!

I am a single girl. Do I really need to bring a PAL?
YES! They can be another girl, a single guy or a couple.

I am a single guy. Am I welcome?
YES! As long as you are respectful, you have read and understand the Charter, you have a PAL with you, and you are not in street clothes you are welcome.

Can I make last minute plans, call my friend who is already there, and get them to meet me at the door and be my PAL
YES! As long as they can meet you at the door when you arrive

If I arrive 15 minutes before my PAL can I hang out at the party till they arrive?
YES! But we will ask you to stay in the lobby so that you are there when they arrive to check in.

Can I come with a group of three or more single PALs?
YES! As long as you all arrive together and all agree to keep an eye on each other.

Why do you recommend leaving together?
The ONLY reason you should leave without your PAL is if you trust them in your deepest heart of hearts to behave themselves. You don’t want to be held responsible for some random person’s late night drunken shenanigans!

I have been coming to Kinky Salon for years. Can I come without a PAL?
The only way a single person can get out of coming with a PAL is to volunteer. Otherwise NO. You will need to come with someone.

What happens if my PAL misbehaves?
First we will talk to them, and then we will find you and talk to you. If it is serious then they will be banned and you will get a warning. If you are not there, we will get your email address from your PAL and contact you after the event.

Will I get kicked out if my PAL misbehaves?
No. You will just get a warning.

What if I am new in town, single and don’t know anyone?
